Devlog Update 2.1: Build System
Hello, Lead Programmer here!
The building system has been implemented and used from Easy Building System Unreal Marketplace. Although, customised with our efforts to migrate it with our project to create a better experience for players. It even contains multiplayer support!
At first, the build menu was originally connected to the craft menu.
After some playtest feedback, we agreed as a team it was time for a UI revamp on the build system and other UI aspects. We separated the build menu from the craft menu to avoid confusion on when it's appropriate to migrate items to and from the hot bar. The building materials can no longer be moved around from this menu.
Costs of items/structures has been changed and will continuously be adjusted to balance out gameplay based on feedback. Wooden building set has their individual icons to show what they will represent before placing them in the 3D space. when the player progresses, unlockable building items will become available. I also changed E to Right click to interact/build based off of feedback.
Added requirements section to allow player to preview cost requirements before interacting.
Roofing is a recent addition. Buildable roof piece are now effective. This addition also interacts with lighting!
